Every time when I open the wooden piano cover or touch other favorite musical instruments, all my emotions will soon blend with them into a harmonious whole. Then all music I play on them will be a telling of heart. I admire my stubbornness during childhood, which enabled a little boy to sit beside the window and allow the musical notes to dance around his tender fingers. Piano, guitar, composition and Midi devices accompanied me from childhood to youth, sentimental to mature.

My passion for music drove me to apply for a music school when I prepared for the college entrance exam. However, though I had great enthusiasm for music and had received sound musical training. I was not confident at that time considering my competitors were mostly from specialized senior schools of music. Therefore, I studied and practiced double time to shorten the distance between them and me. The hard work was paid off finally when I received the admission offer from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, one of the best music schools in China. Moreover, that award grew even bigger by the end of my freshman year since I outweighed tens of talented classmates and ranked to be academically number one in our major! It earned me a number of scholarships and inspiring honors. More importantly, the success of academic studies enhanced my confidence to participate in various out-of-class performances and musical activities. I began to work for Dong An, a famous Chinese music director who has done lots of commercial shows including 2008 Beijing Olympics. I was also invited to arrange for London MIMI organization which was commissioned by the unlimited program, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. What impressed me more is my participation in the creation of ‘Chinese Idol’, the hottest singing competition series in China, where I took charge of music arrangement. As one of the former arrangers, I accomplished 30 scores and experienced a pleasant cooperation with all partners.

After I came to Berklee, I continued

to arrange commercial music for

Chinese music industry. More

importantly, Berklee offers me lots

of chance to work with the talented

musician who inspire me a lot from

all over the world. With my working

experience, I began to bring

Chinese elements into the

western music. In January 2017, as

music director, I lead my music

team to arrange for Chinese

New Year Concert in BPC.

In my perspective, music is connected with people’s strongest feelings. Joyful or sad, bright or gloomy, music acts as a language that enables human beings to communicate with their souls. What music gives me is a new way of thinking, a calm sense of life. I do not admire the glory in front of the audience, but I do enjoy the process when a piece of melody converges around my fingers. I hope to produce the music with high quality in my own way, making efforts to create new things.
